Agriculture:Arusha to host Banana production
Researcher from around the world are meeting these week in Arusha to implement a five years project on improving banana production and productivity in Tanzania and Uganda.Their four-day meeting will take place at the Nelson Mandela Africa Institution of science and technology in Arusha
The event will involve Australian,Brazilian,Ugandan,Swedish,Belgium,South african and US expert.
The international institutes of tropical agriculture(IITA)project manager and soil specialist Mr. Danny Coyne said the project aimed strengthening banana breeding progammes ina Uganda and Tanzania to dramatically upscale andspeed up efforts in developing new high-yielding and diseases-resistant hybrid varieties
